Why Progress is the Opposite of Depression with Lauryn Evarts Bosstick | Ep 100

To celebrate the one hundredth episode of the podcast, I jumped in the car with Lauryn Evarts Bosstick. Lauryn is not only authentic af and incredibly inspiring, but is also responsible for:

-Creating and being the HBIC of the massively successful blog, The Skinny Confidential

-Co-Host of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast – along with her husband, Michael

-Mother of the enchanting Zaza, who is the original reason we weren’t able to get in the car sooner (Lauryn kept her pregnancy private for the first five months.)

Lauryn manages to prioritize self care over most things, because, as we all know, you cannot show up as a mother, blogger, wife, or podcaster if you do not care for yourself.

Lauryn had a lot to say about what helps her keep her shit together. She looks to authors like Glennon Doyle and Tim Grover, and can quote people who inspire her at the drop of a hat. She believes that the things that happen to you can be your strength – a lesson she learned the hard way.

Some key takeaways from our talk were:

(10:20) Self care is important, but why? And what does she do to care for herself daily (or at least, 80-90% of the time)?

(15:09) Worrying about the things out of your control is a complete waste of time.

(17:50) Confidence comes from the promises you keep to yourself.

(25:30) Why is absence important, and what is experience stretching? Plus, Lauryn turns the table and interviews me about the time I took a break from social media, and how rewarding it was.

(44:30) Last year, Lauryn had a run in with cancel culture. What happened, how did she deal with it, and what did she do to move forward from this experience?

I hope you guys enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it!
