How I Pitched The Skinny Confidential Podcast
It’s no secret that I was on the Skinny Confidential Him and Her Podcast, in fact, I’m pretty sure I shouted it from the rooftops! It’s been 6 weeks since my episode aired and I wanted to share my 3 part strategy on how I pitched myself to Lauryn and Michael and landed on the show. Plus I’ll break down how my business grew with specific benchmarks that I put in place. Ready? Same!
Ready, Set, PITCH!
First things first, my number one tip for anyone trying to get noticed when it comes to a brand/podcast/person/anything is to USE VIDEO! Using video is going to be one of the best ways to grab attention. Whether it’s a DM on instagram or a full blown video pitch like the one I used with Lauryn and Michael make sure that you show up as authentically as possible!
The second part of my strategy is to do your research! Make sure you know who you’re speaking to. This is super important and is going to make or break your pitch. Some sore of personalized touch is going to be extremely valuable to your pitch! Get to know your audience.
Finally, drop all the expectations! The less time you spend telling yourself stories about how long it’s going to take for the pitch to be accepted, denied or even viewed the better. Push your ego aside and JUST PRESS SEND!
What’s the worst that could happen? Celebrate either way! You put yourself out there and that is something to be extremely proud of!
Was the effort worth it?
Here is a breakdown of the growth I saw after the podcast:
Day before podcast: 600 email subscribers
7 Days later: 724 email subscribers
Day before podcast: 16.2K
7 Days later: 17.2K*
Applicants to my coaching program
I received 20 applicants over the course of a week after my episode aired and I got on the phone with 5 of them.
I signed 2 out of those 5 calls which is a 40% success rate and definitely something to celebrate!
*please note that I was also featured on the Tone It Up instagram account two days after my episode aired which also contributed to my growth.
I hope this was helpful and demonstrated that if you want something you can totally have it! Just give yourself the permission you need to get out there and ask for it!
